How to Remove Aqua Drops® Pure and Keep the Tone True
// The Geek Files · Removal & Tone
Soften the stain.
Keep the tone true.
Aqua Drops® Pure is the world's only PPD-free, collagen-infused hybrid stain. It gives you instant colour without PPD, and that new chemistry changes one part of your service: how you remove it.
Pure dyes the hair and stains the skin, and the remover is there to soften the skin stain. Use the wrong one and you can lose the warmth in the tone. Use the right one and the skin stain softens exactly the way you want while the hair colour holds. Here is what you need to know before you reach for the remover.
Why Pure is different
A PPD tint develops inside the hair. Once it has set, the colour is locked in and a remover barely touches it.
Pure works another way. The colour is already formed when it goes on and it bonds at a low pH. It dyes the hair and stains the skin. The hair colour holds; the skin stain is the part you control with a remover. That stain responds to chemistry, so if you change the pH or hit it with a reactive ingredient, the tone can shift.
// The Rule With Pure
Soften the skin stain with a gentle, non-reactive remover. Never one that breaks the colour down.
The remover to use: Infinity Tint Eraser Foam
Infinity Tint Eraser Foam is the remover for Pure. It has no sulfite, no peroxide and no alkali, and it keeps the skin at an acidic pH. It softens the skin stain without reacting with the colour, so every tone lifts at the same rate and the shade stays true.
- One pump is enough for both brows.
- Work it over the brow area in small circles, or spot treat where you need it.
- Leave it for 1 to 5 minutes. The longer you leave it, the softer the skin stain.
- Remove with a damp cotton pad.
It is also safe to use before waxing, so it fits straight into your service.
Inside the Tint Eraser Foam
Tint Eraser Foam is a bespoke formula, exclusive to Infinity and created by Debs, The Brow Geek, herself. This is not a one-size-fits-all product. It is a true foam, cherry coconut scented and super soft on the skin. It softens the skin stain while it cares for the skin underneath.
| Ingredient | What it brings |
|---|---|
| Sodium cocoyl isethionate | A gentle, coconut-derived cleanser that lifts the skin stain |
| Cocoglycerides, macadamia seed oil, cocoa seed butter | Soften and cushion the skin while you work |
| Allantoin, aloe leaf juice, calendula, oat kernel extract | Soothing skin care, so the skin is calm after the service |
| Cucumber, papaya, olive leaf, camellia leaf and lemon extracts | A botanical blend for a fresh, comfortable finish |
| Citric acid | Keeps the formula at an acidic pH |
| CI 17200 | The cherry colour |
A soft look with any hybrid
Tint Eraser Foam gives you a soft look with any hybrid dye, not just Aqua Drops®. Once the colour has set in the hair, it stays. The foam works on the skin grab, softening the stain on the skin around the hair.
- Apply your hybrid dye freely through the hair. You don't need clean edges on the skin.
- Process as normal.
- Apply the foam and leave it for 1 to 5 minutes.
- Remove with a damp cotton pad.
Use it to tint the messy way, or to spot fix mistakes. Its real strength is softening: work it over the full skin grab and any hybrid gives you a really soft effect, ideal for clients who want a softer result.
Sizes
Tint Eraser Foam is available now in 40ml, and one pump covers both brows. A 250ml size for busy salons is launching soon.
What to check on any remover label
Many tint removers are formulated for PPD tints and work by chemical reaction. Before any remover goes near a Pure client, read the ingredients on the bottle itself, not just the product page. If you see any of these, keep it away from Pure.
| On the label | What it is | What it does to Pure |
|---|---|---|
| Sodium sulfite | Reducing agent | Breaks down the warm tones in the stain |
| Hydrogen peroxide | Oxidiser | Breaks down the warm tones in the stain |
| Sodium hydroxide | Alkali | Raises the pH and loosens the stain |
| Triethanolamine | Alkali | Raises the pH and loosens the stain |
The worst combination
An alkali together with a sulfite or a peroxide. The alkali loosens the colour and the other ingredient breaks down the warmth in it.
Aftercare to give your clients
The same chemistry applies at home. Ask clients at booking whether they use benzoyl peroxide, and tell them to keep these off the brow area while the stain is wearing:
- Benzoyl peroxide acne cleansers, gels and creams
- Peroxide-based whitening, brightening or clarifying products
- Strong exfoliating or alkaline cleansers used directly over the brows
- Chlorinated pool water, so rinse the brows after swimming
- Strong sun without protection, because UV fades warm tones faster than cool ones
